North-west relief road plan to be debated

Friday, 8th October 2010.

Haverhill Town Councillors will be considering their attitude to plans for the noprth-west relief road, at a planning meeting on Tuesday.

The town council will put forward comments on the plan, which will eventually be either approved or refused by St Edmundsbury Borough Council.

The plan has been submitted by the North-West Haverhill Consortium of Landowners, which comprises the Vestey Trustees, Mrs Pelly and Messrs Smart and Smith, represented by Bidwells.

As well as the relief road, it includes residential development, a primary school, a local centre including retail and community uses, public open space, landscaping and infrastructure.

The plans were exhibited last year for public comment, and are now supported by new information and plans related to landscape and open space, flood risk, environment, drainage, layout, ecology, waste, renewable energy and transport.

The relief road would join the Meadowlands roundabout on Withersfield Road with a new roundabout on the A143 near the Fox pub, formerly the Rising Sun, in Little Wratting.
