Opportunity to boost local arts events

Monday, 18th January 2010.

An arts group has joined forces with Suffolk County Council to launch a programme designed to boost home-grown arts across the county.

There are to be three launch meetings, the closest to Haverhill being at Palace House in Newmarket on Saturday, February 6.

The programme, called Home Grown, aims to inspire and equip people and communities to make exciting arts events happen across Suffolk.

Creative Arts East will guide first-time event organisers through all aspects of delivering an event.

The group says by working together organisers will be able to provide 'memorable, risk-free performances' for their communities.

They will also offer free specialist support for new or established groups who want to take their event to the next level, and there also an offer on one-to-one advice sessions with a spcialist or consultant to make events as successful as possible.

The session on February 6 will run from 10am to 4pm, featuring showcase performances and, after lunch, one-to-one advice surgeries.

Other launch days are at Coddenham community and sports hall on January 23 and Ipswich Town Hall Galleries on February 20. Launch days are free, but booking is essential.
