Tuesday, 7th December 2010.

Over 1,000 shoppers have completed questionnaires designed to find out what people think of Haverhill’s retail outlets, among them two lucky prize winners.

The Haverhill Shopper Survey 2010 attracted 1,093 responses which are now being analysed. Interim results are expected early in the new year, followed by an action plan.

The aim of the survey was to collect information on visitor behaviour patterns in the town centre.

Dr Andrew Fearne, Professor of Food Marketing and Supply Chain Management at Kent Business School is an adviser to the project and partners included independent retailers, businesses, business support agencies and upper schools.

Haverhill's town centre manager Tina Hanks continues to co-ordinate the project.

The first prize is vouchers valued at £185, from businesses in Haverhill including Clarks, C&B Beautiful, Sonia’s Salon, Tony Strowger Jewellers and Abbeycroft Leisure.

The second prize is a convector heater from M J Pipe. The winners are being contacted.

The survey forms part of an initiative offering marketing master classes for Small and Medium Sized independent enterprises in Haverhill town centre.

The last survey of shopper and visitor behaviour in Haverhill town centre was undertaken more than six years ago.
