Piero follows his dreams to become actor

Thursday, 6th September 2001.

A FORMER Haverhill schoolboy, who says he was tormented by bullies, has fulfilled his dream of becoming an actor.

Piero Grandinetti, 26, now lives in a luxury apartment overlooking the
Thames with his fiancé and agent Lynn Fensome and enjoys a busy career as an actor.
After struggling to get started as an actor and working as a Butlins redcoat, he took on work at the Millennium Dome and appeared in the show there.

He has done plenty of stage work and hopes to break into television.
He has appeared in a Sugar Puffs commercial, along with the Honey Monster and members of the England football squad.

Mr Grandinetti has also devised his own television game show, which is being reviewed by several companies and is being considered for a film role by Universal Studios.

Mr Grandinetti thinks his quiet manner and Italian background made him a target for bullies and he left school at 16 to escape them.

After working in a factory he trained as a chef, but then decided to follow his dream to become an actor.

“I used to say to the teachers and pupils that one day I will prove to everyone that I can achieve what ever I like.

“They used to laugh at me and tell me not to even bother trying as I was wasting my time.

“I just want to let them know, and kids who may be getting bullied, that you can follow your dreams,” Mr Grandinetti said.
