Suffolk Police issied a warning afterwards that tough action will be taken against illegal raves in the county.

Officers were called at 11.52pm by Cambridgeshire Police who had received information about an illegal rave in Haverhill.

They attended Homefield Road and found a large number of people entering a disused warehouse. A Police Support Unit, the force helicopter and Essex Police's helicopter attended.

A number of people reacted in a hostile
manner and missiles were thrown at officers.

Over 200 people were at the warehouse. A notice to close down the rave was served at 1.40am and officers contained the area. People started to
leave the factory at 4am and everyone had dispersed by 7.20am.

The 19-year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug. All four are being held at Bury St Edmunds Police Station where they will be questioned today.

Supt Debbie Griffiths said: "I want to warn anyone who is considering organising a rave that they will face prosecution for holding such an event.

"We will also seek to prosecute anyone attending a rave who commits other offences, such as damage.

“At last night’s rave, missiles were thrown at officers and it is fortunate that no-one was injured by any of them.

"The warehouse was damaged and the rave caused some nuisance to residents and businesses in the area through noise and disruption. Inquiries are ongoing and officers will be working at the warehouse during the day to examine the scene and seize equipment.”

Anyone with any information about last night’s rave should call DI Stuart Jeans at Bury CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
