Police keep open mind as schoolgirl followed

Monday, 22nd October 2001.

Suffolk Police are keen to trace a man who appeared to be following a twelve-year-old schoolgirl on Tuesday evening.

The girl’s parents only came forward to Police after reading about the indecent assault on a 30-year-old woman last Sunday. However although the descriptions by both females are similar they say they are keeping an open mind, and at this stage are not linking the two.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 9 at around 5pm. The girl who was shopping in Argos in town felt a man staring at her. She left the store, walking to the bus station, where the same man waved and banged on the bus shelter window as she walked passed.

The man has been described as slim built, 5ft 7in tall and white. He had facial stubble, a shaven head and blue eyes. He was wearing a multi-coloured woolly hat, green wax jacket, black trousers and dark coloured boots.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information about either if the incidents to call them on (01284) 774100, or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
