Police seek dog that bit six-year-old girl

Tuesday, 20th October 2009.

Police in Haverhill are appealing for information after a six-year-old girl was bitten by a dog in a play area.

The incident happened at 9.45am on Saturday in Hales Barn Road.

The girl was with her brother and sister when a couple walked past with a golden-coloured spaniel-type dog.

The child asked to stroke the dog but it bit her on the face and the children ran home.

The dog was between one-and-a-half and two feet tall and was called Jake.

The man with it was white, with dark, spiked hair, and the woman had shoulder-length blonde hair.

Anyone who saw the incident or can help identify the couple can call PC Victoria Anthistle at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
