Police seek witnesses to two affrays

Tuesday, 7th January 2014.

Police are seeking witnesses to two fights outside houses in Haverhill at the weekend.

In the first, around 7.20pm on Friday at a house in Cavendish Court, three males arrived after a disagreement on Facebook, armed with metal poles and crowbars.

They threatened a man inside who wouldn't come out, so they broke the door down and struck the man with a crowbar.

All three were arrested after a third party called police to the scene, and have been bailed to a date later this month. They are aged 39, 26 and 14.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident, which was a significant disturbance by the end of it.

They have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area, but are still keen for more information on 101 or anonymously via Crimetstoppers on 0800 555111.

Then on Saturday between 8pm and 10pm a man was slashed with a knife in the leg during an argument over drugs at a house in Chedburgh Place.

People arrived wanting to buy drugs which the man denied he had, and armed response vehicles were called out when police became involved.

Four people were detained and all searched but no knife was found.

The victim was taken to hospital but has refused to help police with inquiries into the incident, so they are keen to hear from any witnesses on 101 or anonymously vias Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
