Police take action after second spate of damage to cars

Thursday, 10th March 2011.

Police are asking members of the public in Haverhill to be vigilant after a second spate of criminal damage to cars since the weekend.

Four vehicles had their tyres slashed in Knights Court and The Causeway in Haverhill on Tuesday between 6.30pm and 11.35pm. Previous incidents occurred between Friday and Monday in St Boltophs Way where wing mirrors were smashed.

Over the weekend there was a spate of damage to cars on the Parkway estate between Crowland Road and Belvoir Court.

The suspects are thought to be teenage boys and girls returning from a night out in the town. Officers conducted an initial search of the area and are currently conducting house-to-house enquiries.

Haverhill’s Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Chris Galley said: "We are asking people to be aware that there has been a spate of criminal damage in the area and to report anything suspicious by calling 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"We would like to take this opportunity to re-assure the public that police are looking into the situation. Each victim will be visited for re-assurance and offered crime prevention advice. Also enquiries will be made into CCTV in the area."
