Prepare for delays in county services this weekend

Tuesday, 11th May 2010.

Due to a data centre shut down, some Suffolk County Council services this weekend may be affected.

For insurance purposes, Suffolk County Council is required to test the system every five years and therefore some services may be slower than normal from the evening of Friday, May 14, through until Sunday, May 16.

The Suffolk County Council website will be working this weekend, but users will not be able to access the library catalogue in order to renew books or reserve items.

Libraries around the county will be open as normal in order to deal with customer queries, but people will not be able to use computers available in these buildings at this time.

Customers should also note that Customer First will also be affected. Staff will still be taking calls but they will not have normal electronic access to files or emails and therefore enquiries may take a little longer to process.

Customers will not be able to access online payment facilities and emails sent to the organisation will receive a reply stating that the message is ‘undeliverable’.

People can either complete their payments or resend their email on Monday in order for it to be received or, for urgent enquiries, contact Customer Service Direct (CSD) on 0845 606 6067 but, as with all other council services, CSD will not have normal access to electronic files and the query may take a little longer to answer.

Normal service is expected to resume before the morning of Monday, May 17.
