Project Buildings to be Demolished

Wednesday, 10th September 2008.

The Howard Property Group has bought a major commercial site in Haverhill which was once owned by Project Office Furniture.

The prominent 6.5 acre site, which fronts the main A143 through the centre of the town, is just along from the nearly completed Haverhill Leisure Centre redevelopment.

HPG Developments plans to immediately demolish the 170,000 sq ft of existing buildings which are now redundant but were previously occupied by office furniture manufacturer Project. Following demolition HPG will begin consulting with the local planning authority and occupiers to enable a planning application to redevelop the site to be made without delay.

“We see Haverhill as an up-and-coming centre for industry, business and retail in the region,” says William Jewson, Development Director at HPG.

“The town is growing fast and is recognised as a good location by both the business community and local residents. This is demonstrated by the substantial level of new housing stock and commercial developments underway in and around the town. Haverhill also benefits from lower house prices compared to neighbouring centres such as Cambridge - people and businesses can afford to live and work in Haverhill.

The site is a good development prospect for HPG and one that we would plan to retain and manage for the future.”

HPG Developments are also looking at other development sites and JV opportunities in the East of England, as well as redeveloping its commercial property portfolio.
