Push to raise cash for HQ

Thursday, 27th May 1999.

SCOUTS and Guides set out to wake up Haverhill town centre by pushing a bed up and down the street.
The event was aimed to raise funds and increase awareness of the battle to replace the dilapidated Scout and Guide Headquarters in Colne Valley Road.
Hundreds of youngsters use the building each week, but so far the group has in its bids to attract Lottery funding.
On Saturday Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Sea Scouts, Ventures, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides helped with a range of activities.
There were cake stalls, tombolas and other stalls, as well as a bed making competition on the Market Square.
