Queen Street to become an entertainment venue

Friday, 9th July 2010.

Once the new gates are in place in Haverhill's Queen Street, the area will become the venue for a series of open-air entertainments for children during the summer.

The gates will be officially completed at a ceremony next Friday, July 16, and from then on there will be street entertainment on the last Friday of each month up to September.

It is being organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council's town centre manager, Tina Hanks.

Dates to look out for are as follows: On Friday, July 30, a medley of workshops by Nicky -fairies and elves, and junk jewellery & hair decorations (young children will require parental supervision).

On the same day, close-up magic teaching – learn how to perform magic tricks with Eric.

On Friday, August 27, teacup rides by Arun will launch the bank holiday weekend and there will be an inflatable speed test (kicking a football into the goal) with Eric.

On Friday, September 24, there will be more close-up magic teaching when you can learn how to perform more magic tricks with Eric.
