Reduced field of golfers for midweek contest

Tuesday, 19th February 2013.

The Men’s Midweek Medal was played at Haverhill Golf Club on Wednesday, February 13.

A reduced field of only 20 took part and the winner, Anthony Choat, just had the edge on countback with a nett 73.

The full results were: Division One, 1 Dennis Harkness 85-6-79m; 2 club captain Gordon Price 95-10-85.

Division Two, 1 Anthony Choat 90-17-73 on countback; 2 Ted Fairhead 86-13-73; 3 Mark Wells 94-20-74.

Division Three, 1 Graham Hepworth 102-21-81; 2 John Grainger 102-22i-80; 3 Keith McCallum 123-25-98.

The Ladies Medal winners throughout the 2012/13 season contested the Rosebowl Final on Saturday, February 16.

The clear winner by five shots was Jackie Condon with a round of 94-16-78 to claim the trophy. In second place was Pat Kennedy with 99-16-83 on countback from third place Lyn Fish with 104-21-83.

On Sunday, February 17, the Asco Cup finally went ahead, having been rescheduled three times! The format for this Major is foursomes medal, with a handicap limit of 18, half combined.

Terry Bishop and Murray Mckenzie were the winners by three shots with an excellent round of 87-18-69.

The runners-up had to be decided on countback, and Gerry Scott and Lewis Whiting had the best score on the back nine to clinch second place with 77-5-72 from thirrd place Roger Hartley and Dave Cohen with 87-15-72.

The Seniors nine-hole Stableford qualifier was played on Monday, February 18. The winner with 19pts was Jim Mulley, who has reduced his handicap by one shot to 23. In second place was Gordon Thomas with 17pts and in third place Norman White with 16pts.
