Rotary club hands over more than £3,000 to hospice
Friday, 4th February 2011.
After one of their regular Monday meetings, Haverhill and District Rotary Club presented a cheque for £3,207 to St Nicholas Hospice.
Of the money donated, £3,000 was part of the proceeds from last year’s Rotary Golf Classic with the remainder being raised at the recent 'Guess the value of the trolley' competition held at Sainsbury’s on New Year’s Eve.
Ian Norris, accepting the donation on behalf of St Nicholas Hospice in Bury St Edmunds, gave a brief outline of the current work being done by the hospice and thanked not only Haverhill Rotary Club but also the wider Haverhill community for their continued support, particularly in the current difficult financial times.
This year’s Rotary Gold Classic will take place at Haverhill Golf Club on Saturday, June 25. Further details can be found on the Rotary website www.haverhillrotaryuk.org.uk
