Second music night on market square lined up

Monday, 11th August 2014.

Haverhill Town Council is putting on another night of free entertainment in the Market Square on Saturday (August 16).

Starting at 8pm Haverhill residents can enjoy a night of fantastic tribute music featuring A Kind Of Queen and A Kind Of ELO.

The nights of free music on the square (the first was on August 2 and pulled a very large crowd) have been run by the town council for 20 years.

They are suitable for all the family but children should be accompanied.

Camps Road (Peas Hill) will be closed to traffic between 7pm and midnight.

Other free activities for the summer include Community Fun Days. On Wednesday, August 13, there is a Picnic In The Park at East Town Park and on Wednesday, August 20, a Parkway Fun Day will take place at Haverhill Rugby Club.

On each day there will be a variety of fun things to do such as trampolining, climbing, sports equipment, games and workshops.

They are run in association with St Edmundsbury Borough Council parks, The Parkway Residents’ Association and Haverhill Rugby Club.

Colin Poole, the new town clerk in post since June this year, said: "I was pleased to see that the first Tribute Night was immensely popular – but then I’m told they always are! - the Community Fun Days too.

"If only all town councils put on this sort of free entertainment for their residents. I feel quite lucky to work for one of the few councils that do!"
