Carisbrooke Developments, the developer of the Haverhill Research Park, has paid to give the Spirit of Enterprise roundabout on the outskirts of Haverhill a 'wash and brush-up' and have new signs installed heralding the adjacent research park.

The roundabout on the A1307 is adjacent to the park and is the gateway to the town and had become scruffy and untidy. In addition to the new research park, Carisbrooke has paid for the old chevrons to be replaced with brand new ones.

Nic Rumsey, managing director of Carisbrooke Developments, said: “Although it wasn’t a planning or highway obligation, we decided that we would finance the upgrade of the roundabout because in its existing state it was not giving a good first impression to those entering the town.”

The research park will provide a maximum of 450,000sq ft of office/laboratory/technology space and supporting accommodation for a wide spectrum of companies from start-ups to global players.

Proposals being worked up include an innovation centre, grow-on space and bespoke buildings together with a hotel, restaurant and crèche.

Marstons Brewery has started building a family pub and housing developer Taylor Wimpey has commenced a 150-unit residential development on land adjacent to the site.
