Students Stage Fashion Show

Friday, 12th March 2004.

Samantha Cole from Haverhill was stage manager for a charity fashion show sponsored by Top Shop/Top Man and held at West Suffolk college.

Giovani Bei (Beautiful Young People) was organised by second year AVCE Business students as part of their course.

Ticket sales and a raffle raised £460 for the Quidenham Childrens's Hospice in Norfolk.

"This is an amazing figure to raise in one night," said course director Penny Stevens.
"The students have worked as a project team and liased with a wide range of people within the college and across the region to organise this annual charity event."

Samantha said: "I had to make sure the models were in place, ready to go on in the right order. It wasn't that hard because we were in a very small space so it was easy to yell at them and get them over to where you needed them. This was an enjoyable way of putting all we had learned over the year into practice. I am hoping to go into event management as a career. I've enjoyed it now, so it is something that i expect to enjoy doing for the future."

The project team auditioned more than 30 fellow students to choose their fashion models and contacted local organisations to gain sponsorship for the raffle. The students took full responsibility for the marketing of the event, audio visual aspects of the show, and public relations. The clothes, as in 2002, were provided by Top Shop/Top Man and reflected their current trends. West Suffolk College students Nicolas Stevens and Lucy Moss, who both have part time jobs at Top Shop/Top Man, took responsibility for the selection of outfits.
