Technology launch arrives

Thursday, 20th September 2001.

A REALLY busy week for the school. Today, the launch of our new status as a Technology College recorded a new beginning for the school and along with our new Artsmark Gold status, offers us a bright future.

Year 11 were involved in a field trip to Felixstowe which enabled them to interview
residents about the town’s development and assess the impact of development on the
structure and environment.

Year 12 and 13 drama students were coached by Sainantha Mercer, the star of Little Voice, which recently showed at the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds. She helped them with voice projection and audio control.

Football extra-curricular fixtures begin in earnest next week. The First Xl will
entertain Newmarket in the West Suffolk Cup, while the Year 11 side are away to
Stowupland, as well as play Sudbury, King Edward and Gt Cornard in friendlies.

Year 9 and 10 play their cluster matches against Sudbury and Gt Cornard over the next few weeks. The Year 9 squad already looks to be a promising side, with a large attendance at the first practice this week.

Meanwhile, the Year 9 and 10 netball squad is busy preparing for its West Suffolk League fixtures, which continue until February.
