Tuesday, 8th September 2015.

A 17-year-old girl, arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a school in Exning in the early hours of Friday, has been bailed to return to police later this month.

The teenager – the second to be arrested in connection with the fire – was detained yesterday, Monday 7 September, and taken into custody at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where she was interviewed by officers about the blaze.

Emergency services were called at around 12.50am on Friday morning, 4 September, after the fire, that is believed to have started in a shed adjacent to the school, spread to the main building.

The 17-year-old has now been bailed to return to police on September 26, while a 16-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of arson on Saturday 5 September and has been bailed until September 18, while further enquiries are carried out.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has any information about this incident, is asked to contact Bury St Edmunds CID on 101 quoting reference NE/15/1501.
