The return of Liam hits our screens

Friday, 26th February 2010.

Haverhill dyspraxia champion Liam Plumridge will be appearing on our TV screens again on Monday.

Teenager Liam shot into the spotlight with his appearance in BBC TV's Beyond Boundaries in which a team of disabled youngsters trekked in Ecuador through the Amazon jungle and over the Andes.

Since then has fronted various events doncerned with raising the profile of his disability, dyspraxia, which makes it difficult for him to handle everyday tasks which others find easy, such as tying shoelaces or opening tins.

On Monday he appears in a film being launched by newscaster Sir Trevor McDonald, about the work of the Dyspraxia Foundation, on the Community Channel.

The film, directed by award-winning director Emma Parsons, shows some of the members and support offered by the Hertfordshire group, as well as featuring Liam Plumridge and Rachel Matthews talking about the challenge of dyspraxia and how the foundation has supported them.

The foundation says it is very honoured that Sir Trevor has agreed to get involved in the premiere broadcast for Media Trust films, who have sponsored the production of the new film as part of their Volunteer Films project.

The Dyspraxia Foundation film will be introduced by Sir Trevor at 7.30am and 7.30pm on Monday, March 1.

The Community Channel can be viewed on Sky 539, Virgin 233 and Freeview 87. The film will also be live next week on the Community Channel website and ultimately also the foundation's own DF website.

The film will support its work in raising awareness with professionals in the teaching and health sectors and also demonstrate its work and the need for financial support through fund-raising.
