Thieves ram raid estate store

Monday, 2nd November 2009.

Ram raiders who targeted the Londis store on Haverhill's Clements estate last night later tried to break into the chemists in Clare.

Three men broke into the storeroom at the back of the Londis store in Gloucester Road, by ramming it with a blue Ford Escort they had stolen from Bartlow Place in Haverhill.

The car was later found abandoned and burned out at Haverhill Rugby Club.

The raid happened between 12.35am and 12.45am, and the raiders got away with crates of soft drinks.

At around 2.50am someone tried to break into the chemists in Well Lane, Clare, by damaging a door, but failed.

A metallic blue car with a loud exhaust was seen to leave the scene at speed and police are linking it with the Haverhill incident.

The Londis raid was carried out by three men wearing dark clothing with hoods.

Anyone with any information on the raid should call PC Victoria Anthistle at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Anyone who can help with information on the Clare incident can call PC Ruth Horton at the St Edmundsbury Rural South Safer Neighbourhood Team on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
