Trio tipped for big haul of medals

Thursday, 24th June 1999.

MID-ANGLIA clubs have high hopes of a huge medal haul at the latest round of regional competition this weekend.
West Suffolk coach Allan Lee has predicted medals for six of his Haverhill-based swimmers, who are all doing more than one event at the Midland District Age Group in Coventry.
He tips 12-year-old Dawn Jason, whom he expects to go on to win full international recognition, to add to her Midland sprint titles.
She swims the 200m individual medley, where she is ranked No 1 in the country, as well as teaming up with Carly Edwards, Isosbel Craig, both potential solo medalists, and Sally Morton for the lOOm freestyle relay, an event Lee believes the quartet could win at the national championships in August.
Previous national age group champion Alan Bircher is another marked for gold in the 15-19 years 400m freestyle, while Daniel Pilbrow looks good for 200m individual medley glory in the same age group and Samantha Neal is chasing the 14-years l00m backstroke title.
