Volunteer centre on line with own internet site

Thursday, 7th October 1999.

A TOWN'S volunteer centre has become the first in East Anglia to have its own web site.
Haverhill Volunteer Centre recently received a grant from Lloyds TSB to buy computer equipment and now has its own site created by Jason Fitzpatrick of Pure Energy Entertainments, who created the Haverhill UK web site.
Mary Parodi, manager of the centre, said they had now entered a new phase in their development and the website would be a key resource in getting information to the community.
"This new tool will link us to individuals who browse the net and could be attracted to volunteering by the wide range of activities we offer.
"Willow weaving, community care, art projects and entertainment are just a few of the search subjects people will be able to access us on," Ms Parodi said.
Mr Fitzpatrick said: "It's great to help local community groups move forward into the Internet age . I am sure this will benefit their particular cause."
A link to Haverhill Volunteer Centre's site, at www.Haverhill-UK.com/volcentre, is provided.
