Volunteers needed for charity days in aid of wounded service people

Monday, 23rd May 2011.

A Haverhill woman is looking for volunteers to help with a major charity event in the town in July to raise money for wounded service people.

Tesco has allowed Help For Heroes to run collection days outside 13 stores across Suffolk on Friday and Saturday, July 1 and 2, and each community’s support is needed in making it an event to remember.

Haverhill's Amy Taylor, a Help for Heroes Suffolk volunteer for this event, said: “Supporting Help For Heroes in Haverhill is something we can all do to support our brave soldiers injured in the service of our country.

"Any time you are able to spare in support of Help For Heroes is greatly appreciated. It's also a great way to meet new people and have some fun!

"Haverhill is a proud town and there will be many who will want to show their support for our wounded heroes.

"Volunteering as part of this national collection event to raise as much as possible for Help for Heroes will make a big difference to the lives of some very special people."

Volunteers are needed to be a 'store point of contact' – to liaise with the store Manager at the Haverhill Tesco and to oversee the collection days.

Anyone who can spare a couple of hours on the Friday or Saturday can volunteer as a bucket collector outside the store.

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq and provides direct, practical support to those injured since 9/11.
