What a lovely racquet it is having fun...

Thursday, 20th July 2000.

Some talented young players, and some mums and dads who had never picked up a racquet before, were in action at Haverhill Tennis club at the weekend.
An open singles competition for boys and girls aged 11, 13, 15 and 17, attracted 60 entries on Saturday, despite rainy weather.
A Fun Day on Sunday attracted more than 200 people and there were prizes, including a colour television set and a tennis racquet, as well as trophies to be won.
Tennis club development Officer Simon Goddard said they were very pleased with support for the event and plan to hold another Fun Day on Sunday July 30, with an entrance charge of £1 a head.
He also thanked sponsors Chapman and Sons, Aurora Sport, Haverhill Leisure Centre, Darenas, Magiscope and Ellis Autos.
The courts are now available for public hire and membership to the tennis club for the rest of the year is £40 adults, £18 juniors or £80 for a family of four. For more details contact Haverhill Leisure Centre on (01440) 702548.
