Woman helped a stranger, but he helped himself

Friday, 11th February 2011.

A woman had her bank cards stolen in Sainsbury's car park yesterday by a man she tried to help.

The incident happened between 11.55am and 12.15pm and police are appealing for information after bank cards were stolen from the woman’s handbag while she helped the man.

As she returned to her car a man of oriental appearance put a map on her bonnet and asked for directions.

She put her handbag on the passenger seat and helped him, then went home where she found the cards were missing and had been used fraudulently.

Calls in relation to this incident should be made to the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB) on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
