Woman Raped in Churchyard

A 25-year-old woman was raped in a churchyard in the early hours of Sunday (Aug 10).
Police have launched a rape investigation and sealed off part of the old churchyard next to St Mary's Church, Haverhill, from Monday afternoon.
The woman, who is from Haverhill, is known to have been at Rush Nightclub in the town on Saturday night and told police she had woken up in the churchyard, off the High Street, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victim reported the incident to police on Monday and details remain sketchy as a full statement has not yet been taken from her.
Initial investigations indicate that she may have left the club with a man then been raped in the churchyard between midnight and around 5am.
