Art goes on show at summer exhibition

Thursday, 7th June 2001.

THE Haverhill Art Group's annual summer exhibition has begun in the town's Arts Centre.
The exhibition features around 60 pictures of subjects such as animals, flowers, and local scenes.
Bill Hubbuck, one of the organisers, said: "The work ranges from watercolours through to pastels and the quality is very high this year. Most of the work is for sale at very reasonable prices."
The Art Group has been running for 58 years.
Joanne Bingham, secretary of the group, said: "The exhibition lasts for a month, finishing on June 29.
"The initial response has been good and we've already sold three paintings.
"We are a mixed ability group of of about 30 artists who meet twice a month.
"We have a wide range of interests in the group, watercolours, oils, pen and ink, and offer practical advice for those that need it at our meetings.
"Anybody, of any ability, is more than welcome to come and join us. The cost is £8 a year."
