Event will get business people networking against the clock

Haverhill Chamber of Commerce and thebestof Haverhill are hosting a speed networking event at Haverhill
Arts Centre next week.
It will be on Wednesday from 5.30pm until 9pm and is one of a range of business events taking place across West Suffolk from September 11-20 as part of the annual Business Festival organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
Networking plays an important role for both Haverhill Chamber and bestof Haverhill with both organisations recognising the business benefits of devoting time to develop new contacts and reinforce existing relationships.
Speed networking is a fast-paced and fun way to meet a large number of people in one session.
Paul Donno, chairman of Haverhill Chamber and director of accountancy practice Jacobs Allen, said: “The Chamber runs regular networking events on the last Friday of the month. We thought it would be a good opportunity to work with thebestof Haverhill to put together a joint event as part of the Business Festival.
"There are lots of different activities taking place in Bury St Edmunds and we didn’t want Haverhill businesses to miss out and thought that speed networking was something a little bit different.”
The ticket price is £14 excluding VAT for members of Haverhill Chamber and bestof Haverhill and £18 excluding VAT for non-members and includes a light buffet supper.
Due to the nature of speed networking places are limited to 32 and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Elaine Carr, owner of thebestof Haverhill, said: “We have opted to use Haverhill
Arts Centre as our venue as having a large area with enough space to accommodate everyone comfortably is very important to the success of the evening.
"We are also using the services of business coach John Porter, from Business Improvements, to manage the timings, which require a military precision if everyone is to meet each of the other 31 people attending within the allotted time!”
