Free products to help conserve home energy

Wednesday, 23rd March 2011.

Free home energy efficiency materials are on offer to St Edmundsbury residents at the latest Greener Homes DIY event at Haverhill Arts Centre between 10am and 2pm on Friday, April 1.

Everyone living in the borough who attends the event can apply for at least £50 of free products with some households eligible for up to £350 of products, saving money on fuel bills and reducing their carbon footprint.

The scheme is only available to people living in the private housing sector (home-owners or privately rented accommodation).

Goods can be applied for on the day, and a bulk order is then delivered to a central point in the town on a specified day for residents to collect.

Andrew Oswald, environment officer at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, said: “We are inviting residents who are interested in saving money and staying warmer this winter to come to the DIY event to see the goods on offer, which include loft insulation, draught stripping, pipe insulation, hot water tank jackets, solid wall insulation, reflective radiator panels, and water butts."

There will also be the opportunity to speak to qualified installers of loft and cavity wall insulation, the manufacturers of some of the products available and renewable energy systems installers.

For more information please contact Andrew Oswald at St Edmundsbury Borough Council on 01284 757622 or email andrew.oswald@stedsbc.gov.uk
