Golden Age event draws about 100 visitors

Thursday, 27th September 2012.

The Golden Age Network Event, run by ONE Haverhill and sponsored by Haverhill Town Council, attracted residents from the town to get advice on a health, housing, energy, security, and other support yesterday.

The event at Haverhill Arts Centre included displays by Age UK, the Safer Neighbourhood Team, NHS Suffolk, the Red Cross, Havebury Housing, Haverhill Well Being Centre, Abbeycroft Leisure, Live Well Suffolk, West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group, Haverhill Volunteer Centre, St Nicholas Hospice, Co-op Partnership, REACH Community Project, and specialist seating company itsyourchair.

Attended by town mayor Cllr Pat Hanlon, the event was designed to give people information and advice about the many services available for the older population in Haverhill. Around 100 people attended.

Anne Gower, chairman of ONE Haverhill board, said: “We have received very positive feedback from the event and the displays and stalls were busy for most of the day.

“This event aimed to bring a lot of organisations into one room to assist our older residents and I was extremely pleased that we had such a good turn out.”
