Haverhill Remembers its War Heroes

Tuesday, 4th November 2008.

A special remembrance service paying tribute to servicemen who have lost their lives through war and conflict is to take place in Haverhill on Sunday (9 November).

The Royal British Legion will lead a parade from the Arts Centre car park to the cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony and short service, which will take place at 2.40pm at the war memorial. The parade will then return with a march past and salute taken by the Mayor of St Edmundsbury and Mayor of Haverhill, followed by a service of remembrance in St Mary’s Church at 3.15pm.

Cllr Cockle, Mayor of St Edmundsbury, said:
“On behalf of St Edmundsbury Borough Council, I wish to extend an invitation to everyone to join us at this special service on Sunday, when we will be gathering to remember those who have lost their lives during wars and paying tribute to their bravery and the personal sacrifice they made for their country.”
