Movie magic gives way to England magic (we hope)

Tuesday, 25th May 2010.

The World Cup may be happening a long way away in South Africa, but people will be able to get into the spirit of England's matches at Haverhill Arts Centre.

The Arts Centre will be swapping its usual cinema programme for the World Cup so that you can watch free, family-friendly football on the big screen.

All the England Group games will be shown on the cinema screen with surround sound.

Haverhill Town Council arts and leisure manager - and keen football fan - Nick Keeble said: "To watch the footie in a family friendly environment the Arts Centre is the place to go.

"We screened the FA Cup final as a test run and were really pleased with the whole experience. It looked and sounded great, and an added bonus was our comfy cinema seating!"

The bar and tuck shop will open 45 minutes before each game: Saturday, June 12, at 7.30pm (England v USA); Friday, June 18, at 7.30pm (England v Algeria) and Wednesday, June 23, at 3pm (England v Slovenia).

Further screenings will depend on England’s success and the Arts Centre’s availability. Free tickets can be reserved in advance by calling the Arts Centre box office on 01440 714140.

Only food and drink purchased on the premises may be consumed and no unaccompanied under 16s will be admitted.
