MP heads back to school

As part of a global initiative, Haverhill MP, Richard Spring is going back to school today including Burton End Primary and St Felix Roman Catholic Primary school.

The campaign is organised by the Global Campaign for Education, supported by a number of charities and teaching unions, and is designed to highlight the millions of children across the world who are missing an education.

As part of his constituency work Richard is a frequent visitor to schools in the area. Richard campaigns for a fairer funding settlements for Suffolk’s schools and highlighted the budgetary pressures many schools face.

Talking in advance of his visit Richard said: ““I am delighted to have been invited by these schools to take part in the MPs “Back to School Day”. It is a worthwhile and valuable campaign that highlights the fact many children across the world have never had the chance to go to school.”

He went on to emphasise the importance education plays: “Children are our future so it is important that they all get the best start in life, beginning with a good education.

Richard will also be visiting All Saints School in Newmarket.
