MP is bowled over by alley's knockout success

Thursday, 24th February 2000.

HAVERHILL'S MP Richard Spring got a taste of the town's most popular new attraction - the Chalkstone Way 10-pin bowling alley.
Since it opened last November, the new eight-lane bowling alley at Haverhill Snooker Club has proved to be a huge success.
Manager Hazel Pawley said the club was advising people to book at least two weeks in advance for a Friday or Saturday and a week in advance for any other time.
"We expected it to do well, but it has by far exceeded all our expectations," she said.
"It has been absolutely mad in here ever since we opened and the snooker has fed off the bowling and is really busy too."
Mrs Pawley hopes to add weekday competitive sessions and ladies-only sessions in the future.
A bowling alley had for many years topped polls of the facilities people would like to see in Haverhill.
Mr Spring said: "The club is a great thing for Haverhill and I am sure it will become all the more popular as a result of the investment and improvements made."
