Preparations for play begin at Sam Ward

By Martin Chapman on Thursday, 5th October 2000.

THE Shadow Chancellor, Michael Portillo, MP and local MP Richard Spring visited the school last week after being invited earlier in the year by headteacher, Mr Lay.

Mr Portillo held a question and answer session with pupils of the joint Haverhill Sixth Form.

This week Year 10 Biology students visited Carlton Marshes to collect data for their GCSE science coursework and Year 11 pupils will be busy for the next two weeks as they start their GCSE maths coursework next week.

The school's annual awards evening to celebrate student success over the past year is being held next Thursday.

The first joint Sixth Form Council meeting was held last week. In the past the council has been responsible for organising the Sixth Form ball.

Plans are already afoot for the annual school production, with auditions being held last week. This year we hope to perform Terry Pratchets "Wyrd Sisters."

On Thursday evening, 100 pupils and parents watched a Year 11 production of a play written by Year 11 student Kimberley Stevens.
