Recreation Ground plans go on display

Friday, 11th April 2014.

A display of proposals for a £70,000 upgrade of the play provision at Recreation Ground goes on view at Haverhill Arts Centre this Friday for the public to comment on.

The display will be on view in the studio on Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, Monday, April 14, Thursday, April 17 and Saturday, April 19.

The designs are an indication of what could be involved, to give people something to comment on, before their feedback is incorporated into the final plans.

It is hoped to have the new amenities available for use during the summer holidays.

The funding had been allocated in 2012 in St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s leisure asset review and will be used to provide a relocated and redesigned park area, new equipment in a well-landscaped environment and better access for all families in a more pleasant space.

Cllr Sarah Stamp, St Edmundsbury Borough Council cabinet member for leisure said: “We have been looking forward to delivering this new play provision for some time, and hope to have it completed in time ready for the summer holidays.

"We have been talking to local councillors, residents and other partners about the design, which is structured to allow us to add more equipment in future, as more funding becomes available.

"This is an investment in more than equipment and landscaping - it is about the future health and wellbeing of Haverhill’s families and I am sure it will be welcomed and well used.”
