Redundant pumpkins can find new employment

Wednesday, 23rd October 2013.

Haverhill Town Council is appealing for children all over Haverhill to donate their unemployed pumpkins for the 2013 Halloween Trail which is on Friday, November 1.

After Halloween night is over you can take your pumpkin creations to Haverhill Arts Centre, Haverhill Library or East Town Park Countryside Centre before 12 noon on that Friday and they will then take pride of place along the trail.

The annual Haverhill Town Council Halloween Trail will see, prowling in murky corners and lying in wait in their foul lairs, the sort of creatures that could give Dracula the frighteners.

A mystical firestorm enchantment will take over the park. Many of the Halloween creatures will be bewitched into performing all manner of flame-filled tricks and stunts.

The spooky free family fun starts at East Town Park, Coupals Road from 7pm. Bring a torch, dress up, but remember that the weather may be chilly and to wear suitable footwear.

There is no parking on site, please use other the town centre car parks. Part of the trail covers areas of the park may be unsuitable for buggies and wheelchairs. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The event is preceded by a number of workshops next week, including:
Drop-In Pumpkin Carving on Monday from 2pm – 4pm at East Town Park visitor centre.
£4 per pumpkin. No need to book.
Drop-In Halloween Trail Workshops on Wednesday from 10am – 2pm at Haverhill Arts Centre. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Free, no need to book.
Camp Fires and Den Building on Thursday from 10am – 2pm at East Town Park visitor centre.
£10.00 per child. Booking essential, contact: 01284 757088.

And don’t forget, if you are worried about potential Halloween activities near you, you can contact Haverhill police who have posters you can display to keep the trick or treaters away.
