See the light - A motivational start to 2005

By Elaine Carr on Friday, 14th January 2005.

How to achieve a clear business vision for 2005 was the subject of the first event in the Haverhill Chamber Of Commerce programme for this year. The speaker, Janice Levett, founder and director of high 10 Ltd, a personal and business coaching company based in Suffolk gave a highly entertaining and motivational talk on how to implement a strategy for success.

Janice explained how coaching can help people to focus on their personal careers and business goals. This is achieved by concentrating on you, your goals and your situation; being in control is the key. Coaching is the next step on from general training, it is all about forward thinking and is action based. When you take an action you achieve a result that then motivates you, this is known as the virtuous circle.

Janice’s advice to the diverse range of companies represented, including sponsors of the Awards programme Genzyme, Sigma Genoysis, Barclays and Risk and Safety Solutions, was to “play with your brain.” Although you cannot always control your situation you can control how you react. Retaining a positive attitude throughout your personal and business life is the way to succeed.

The next Chamber Of Commerce event will take place on Wednesday 9th February at The Arts Centre, Haverhill. The guest speaker is Deborah Cadman, Chief Executive of St Edmundsbury Borough Council. Tickets can be booked via the website www.haverhillchamber.co.uk or by calling Jason Fitzpatrick on 01440 709794
