The show goes on...

Thursday, 10th February 2000.

The Haverhill Show has been saved for this year and may even be linked up with a music event to get more young people involved.
The future of this year's show, on Sunday, July 2, was in doubt because too few people were prepared to help run it.
However, a meeting this week attracted good support and Chris Hammond, chairman of the Show Committee, said the response had been heartening.
The show exists solely to raise money for LAMPH, a local group for people with disabilities, which would probably cease to exist without the £2,000-plus show profit each year.
Steve Furbin, who runs discos at the Rose and Crown pub in Haverhill, offered to organise a music event on the Saturday night. He said young people could camp out at the showground in Little Wratting.
And Michael Driver offered to organise trade stands and said people should be asked for ideas of what they would like at the show.
Haverhill Rovers Football Club agreed to run a five-a-side football event. To take part, ring Diane Bampton on (01440) 707633.
Another meeting will take place at William Blake Court in Cambridge Close on Tuesday, February 29, at 7.30pm. For information ring Chris Hammond on (01440) 714448.
