Wrestling, or 'sports panto' comes to arts centre

Monday, 17th January 2011.

Making its debut at Haverhill Arts Centre in February is LDN Wrestling, a family-friendly entertainment show starring some of the exuberant stars of the British wrestling scene.

Championship wrestling, full of sparkly costumes and audience participation is what promoter Sanjay Bagga describes it as ‘sports pantomime’.

He says: ‘It's live theatre and very much a family show with plenty of audience involvement. There's Richard Parliament for example who says he happily takes all his expenses and the adults boo.

"Then he proclaims that he wants children to go to school seven days a week and it's their turn to boo. It works on all levels. It's all about fun, excitement and atmosphere. The children bring signs for their favourite wrestlers."

The show, on Thursday, February 3, will be see LDN Capital Champion The Peckham Playboy, Hakan taking on Scotland’s Rob Cage and Hertfordshire tag team Project Future (Riccardo Young and Bobby Hostile) are back together as they fight Bristol’s Team Hate for the LDN Tag team championship.

There will also be two other bouts plus an over-the-top rope rumble.

Tickets are £12 with concessions £10. A family ticket (two adults, two children or one adult, three children) is £35.

Doors open at 7pm for the first bell at 7.30pm. To book call the Arts Centre box office on 01440 714140 or go to the website www.haverhillartscentre.co.uk
